Shops, bars and offices
Commercial locksmith Guardamar, for premises that open with the season
Beach shops and bars that pull their shutters down in autumn and up again in spring, restaurants along the front, offices and shops in the town, businesses round the port. Doors are opened, cylinders changed and shutter padlocks freed; the price is agreed before the work, and the job is fitted round your opening hours.

The season
Premises that sleep through the winter
Tourism has driven Guardamar’s economy since the 1950s, and much of the town runs to its rhythm: busiest in the summer, and fullest in the second half of July, when the Moros y Cristianos of Sant Jaume fill the streets. If yours is a business that closes for the winter, the spring brings lock trouble of its own.
A padlock on a shutter that faces the sea for a whole winter will often not turn in March. A cylinder in a glass shop door that nobody has used since October has filled with fine sand from the beach. The guide on reopening a beach shop in spring has what to check a week before opening day, so that day does not start with a locksmith.
The work
What is done at shops, bars and offices
Done
- Opening a shop, bar or office door that will not give
- Freeing or replacing a seized shutter padlock or shutter lock
- Changing cylinders when staff or tenants change
- Keyed-alike cylinders so one key opens the door and the shutter
- Securing a door after a break-in, with a note for the insurer
- Opening the safe in the back office: safes
Left to others
- Shutter slats, springs and motors
- Metalwork, grilles and new frames
- Alarm systems and cameras
Knowing where the job ends saves you a visit that cannot solve your problem.
Reopening
A call on reopening day, step by step
-
Say what will not open
The shutter padlock, the shutter lock or the door behind it. A photo on WhatsApp shows which.
-
Show the premises are yours
The lease, a document with the business name and address, or the owner on the phone.
-
Price, then work
Once the lock has been seen, the price is agreed. Freeing is tried before cutting anything.
-
Open, and locking again tonight
Whatever is opened has to lock again at closing time. A cut padlock is replaced before anyone leaves.
Keys and staff
New season, new staff, same old keys
Seasonal work means people come and go, and keys go with them. When the team changes, changing the cylinders that matter is quicker and cheaper than wondering. The options and how a booked change runs are on the lock change page; a shop that cannot open this minute is a case for an urgent call-out. Premises in El Raso and the urbanizations are covered as much as those on the front: see the coverage page, and for a written quote before the season starts, email through the contact page.
Asked often
Shopkeepers and bar owners ask
Can the shop be opened early in the morning, before we start trading?
Yes. Ring the evening before if you can, or first thing. An opening can be done at any hour; a planned cylinder change is better booked for a quiet moment such as before opening or after closing.
A member of staff has left with a key. Do all the locks need changing?
Only the cylinders that key opens, usually the front door and the shutter padlock. If several doors share one key, a keyed-alike set keeps it to one key for the new team.
Do you repair the shutter itself, or its motor?
No. The lock in the shutter, its padlocks and the door behind it are dealt with here. The slats, the springs and the motor are work for a shutter specialist.
Who should be at the premises when the door is opened?
The owner or the tenant of the premises, or someone they authorise. Bring the lease or something with the business name and address, or have the owner confirm by phone.
